Breast Augmentation

Gorgeous holiday curves are on the way. If you’re preparing for breast augmentation plan on being able to return to normal activities, including most holiday parties, in just a few days. You may have some soreness (be careful with hugs), but as long as you’re careful and not doing strenuous exercise, you should be fine.

Liposuction

Say goodbye to stubborn fat this holiday season. Liposuction can eliminate those diet and exercise resistant fat pockets. Usually a patient can return to work in 3 days, but you can have bruising and swelling for a few weeks after treatment. To minimize recovery times, consider SmartLipo since bruising and inflammation generally resolve within a week helping you get party perfect sooner.

Tummy Tuck

For many men and women the gift of a flat stomach is the only thing on their Christmas list this year. A tummy tuck can help you once again achieve this goal.  After a tummy tuck we encourage our patients to begin walking the same day.  Usually patients can be back to work in 5 to 7 days, but may want 2 weeks before an important holiday event.  If you are close to your ideal weight, a mini-tummy tuck may be all you need.  Patients generally recover from this procedure more quickly.

Facelift

Turn back the clock and look like you did at Christmas 10 years ago with a facelift. Many of our patients are surprised to find that facelift recovery isn’t as difficult as they expected. You will probably having some bruising and swelling for 2-3 weeks. Surprise everyone with a younger looking you this holiday season.

Tips for Attending Holiday Parties After Plastic Surgery

The holidays are a great time for plastic surgery, but it is important to take care of yourself in the weeks following surgery. As you attend holiday parties make sure to take your surgeon’s instructions into account. Avoid or limit alcohol as instructed and don’t smoke. As you recover, you’ll need extra rest. Take it easy this holiday season and enjoy a gorgeous new you!

Schedule your pre-holiday treatments now and look party perfect by New Year’s (or sooner).

Facelift

The traditional facelift lifts and tightens skin across the face. This procedure can be done on its own, but is often paired with other procedures like a mid-faceliftbrow lift, facial liposuction, or a neck lift. During facelift surgery incisions are made around the ears and behind the hair line. The surgeon removes excess fat, cuts and tightens muscles, and redrapes the skin. A facelift can significantly improve the appearance of the lower half of the face. When paired with liposuction, a facelift can reduce eliminate a double chin. Facelift recovery usually requires a couple of weeks off from work.

Mid-Facelift

The mid-facelift is a new innovation in facelift surgery. This procedure allows the surgeon to lift and tighten tissues that aren’t affected by a traditional facelift. This surgery tightens skin in the cheeks and lower eyelids by elevating the fat pad in the cheek. This revolumizes the face and restores fullness to the eye and cheek areas. Dermal fillers can provide similar results, but aren’t as permanent.

Recovery is much faster than a traditional facelift (most patients take about a week off from work). This procedure can be performed on its own, but is often paired with a traditional facelift. When combined with a facelift the mid-facelift helps to create a more natural, revitalized look. Performed on its own, this procedure is often done on younger patients for a boost without a full lift.

Mini-Facelift

For patients in their late 40s and early 50s, a mini-facelift can really turn back the clock. If performed early on the mini-facelift may prevent the signs of aging before they become obvious and may reduce the need for more extensive cosmetic surgeries down the road. This procedure is highly customizable and can be custom tailored to your trouble areas. The incisions are smaller and shorter than with a regular facelift. Muscles are tightened, but not cut. Recovery is much easier than with a regular facelift and takes about a week.

Facelift, Mini-facelift, Mid-facelift: What’s the difference?

Q: How long is the recovery time?

Approximately one week.

Q: How long does a facelift last?

A patient will always look at least 10 years younger, but they will continue to age. EX: If you have your facelift at 60 you will look 50 10years later you will look 60 again, but you are now 70.

Q:How is a facelift different than a mini-facelift or mid-facelift?

The incision for a full face lift is longer providing for greater correction of skin laxity on the neck. A mid face lift only provides for greater fullness in the cheeks.

Q: I have excess skin around my cheeks, which would be best for me?

Mid face lift for early aging changes with volume loss on checks, very rejuvenating for those in the 30’s – 40’s.  Mini face lift for volume loss on cheeks along with correction of jowling and skin laxity in the cheeks and neck.  Full Face lift correction of both listed above with excessive skin laxity.

Q: Is recovery from a mini or mid facelift quicker than a full facelift?

All require about one week for recovery.

Q:How long should swelling and numbness last after a facelift?

Bruising and swelling lasts about one to two weeks, numbness last approximately one month.

Q:How can I avoid getting a pulled up look from a facelift?

The key is to provide increased volume in the cheeks and not a flat and taut look.

Q:How to avoid bruising after a facelift?

Keeping your head elevated, avoid NSAID’S prior to surgery, and Arnica may be used to help reduce the bruising and swelling.

Q:What are potential facelift side effects?

Bruising, swelling, and transient numbness.

Q:Will I have visible scars from a facelift?

The scars should hide well around the ears.

Q: Is there a non-surgical alternative for facelift?

Other options are fat transfer, fillersBOTOX®Fraxel laserpeels, laser liposuction of the neck.  These will soften the signs of aging; however, none of these will provide the same quality result as surgery.

Facelift Myths and Facts

There are a lot of misconceptions, myths, and misunderstandings floating around about facelifts and honestly, it’s a shame. These myths keep people that could greatly benefit from the surgery from exploring their options. People are afraid of facelifts because they don’t understand what the procedure actually entails or the results they might achieve. Let’s cut through the myths and learn the facts about facelifts so you can decide if you’d like to learn more about this age defying cosmetic surgery treatment.

Myth #1- Facelifts Are Only for the Old

You don’t have to be in your 50s, 60s, or 70s to enjoy the benefits of a facelift. In fact, surgery can create subtle, enhancing changes when performed on younger patients. If you aren’t ready for a full facelift, we offer a mini-facelift that can provide many of the benefits of a facelift in a scaled back version for younger patients.

Myth #2- After a Facelift Your Face Will Look Tight, Pulled, and Fake

With the right cosmetic surgeon and treatment plan, a facelift can create natural looking results. No one has to know you’ve had a facelift; they’ll just think you look great because you do. Surgical techniques have evolved extensively over the past couple of decades and you’d be amazed at how natural a facelift can look. To get a better idea of the results you might obtain from a facelift, check out our gallery of before and after photos.

Myth #3- Men Can’t Benefit from a Facelift

Facelifts aren’t just for women; men can benefit from them to. In facelift surgery we remove excess fat, tighten muscles, and reposition skin to knock years off of your look. Last year almost 10% of facelifts were performed on male patients.

Myth #4- Recovery from a Facelift is Very Painful

When people think of facelifts, they think of a painful procedure with a long recovery period. They assume that a facelift will require them to miss months of work, holed away while they recover. In reality, the procedure takes between 3 and 5 hours itself. After surgery you’ll need to rest and give your body time to heal. We can talk with you about your recovery before surgery and provide you with tips and pain relief to reduce your discomfort during the first few days. Most people find that pain during recovery is minimal and many people are able to return to work after about 2 weeks.

Myth #5- Life Style Lift is different than a mini facelift

Both procedures are mini facelifts, but the mini facelift procedure performed in our office provides unexcelled longevity while not producing significant discomfort or extended downtime.  A complete evaluation is performed by the surgeon initially to formulate the ideal procedure and achieve optimal results. Patients who opt for the Lifestyle Lift will have their initial evaluation performed by a consultant and will only meet the surgeon on the day of the surgery.

Myth #6- Non-Surgical Options Are Just as Effective as a Facelift

We offer many non-surgical options to enhance your look including injectable fillers and freezers. While these can offer dramatic results, it is important to remember that they aren’t an alternative to a facelift. Only a facelift can remove excess fat and tighten muscle. Fillers are a temporary solution whereas a facelift provides long term and often more dramatic results.
