The aging process can take a big toll on your neck, causing sagging, loose skin and folds that may make you look older than your actual age. Loose skin in the neck also often develops after substantial weight loss or post bariatric surgery (weight loss surgery).
A neck lift (also called platysmaplasty) is a plastic surgery procedure that removes the loose skin and tightens the muscles to help you look younger. Liposuction may also be a part of the procedure to remove excess fat from the neck.
Neck lift is often performed in conjunction with other facial surgery procedures, such as facelift, mid facelift, mini facelift, or blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery).
What You Should Know about Neck Lift
A neck lift takes about 2 hours to complete. It can usually be performed as an outpatient procedure in our fully accredited facility in Northern Virginia.
Incisions are usually made under the chin or behind the ears where any scars will remain hidden. Excess skin is then removed, liposuction is used in some cases to remove excess fat, and the skin and muscles are tightened to contour the neck and define the chin and jaw line.
