Before attending medical school, he attended Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin. He earned a DDS degree from Northwestern University Dental School in 1965. While continuing his schooling, Dr. Albert went on to earn a medical degree from the University of Kentucky Medical School in 1970. He completed an internship in general surgery at the University of Illinois in Chicago, and completed his plastic surgery residency at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois.
During his time in the United States Navy, he completed general surgery residencies at the Naval Regional Medical Centers (NRMC) in Great Lakes, Illinois, and in Portsmouth, Virginia. Dr. Albert’s long naval career also took him to the Naval Regional Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida, where he spent two years performing general surgery. He also spent three years performing plastic surgery at the NRMC in Portsmouth, Virginia. He remained a member of the U.S. Navy and Army Reserves until 1986.
His first private practice opened in Fredericksburg when he founded PSSF in August of 1983. He currently has privileges to practice at Mary Washington Hospital.
Dr. Albert is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He also holds certification with the Council of National Board of Dental Examiners and is a diplomate of The National Board of Medical Examiners. He has received the American Medical Association & Physician’s Recognition Award numerous times from 1976 through the current year. Dr. Albert is a member of numerous local and national professional medical societies.
Among Dr. Albert’s personal interests are breeding horses and horseback riding. He is married, has three children and one grandchild.
